Community Leaders Unite for International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to Strengthen Drug Prevention Efforts

Nashville, Tennessee, Jul 10, 2026, ZEX PR WIRE — In recognition of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Church of Scientology Nashville welcomed a diverse group of community leaders, law enforcement officers, clergy, nonprofit professionals, volunteers, and youth for a collaborative forum focused on addressing the growing drug addiction crisis.

Hosted by Drug-Free Tennessee, the local chapter of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, the event brought together individuals from across the community who share a common goal: protecting young people and strengthening prevention efforts through education and cooperation.

Participants engaged in meaningful discussions about the challenges they are witnessing in their neighborhoods, schools, and organizations. The forum provided an opportunity to exchange ideas, identify current needs, and build new partnerships aimed at expanding drug education throughout Middle Tennessee.

One of the highlights of the event was hearing directly from local youth, who shared valuable perspectives on current drug trends, peer influences, and the pressures facing young people today. Their firsthand insights helped guide discussions and reinforced the importance of equipping youth with factual information before they are confronted with decisions about drugs.

Throughout the meeting, attendees explored ways their organizations can work together to reach more families, schools, and community groups with effective prevention resources. New connections were formed, collaborative plans were discussed, and participants committed to continuing their efforts beyond the event.

“The solution to drug abuse begins with education and cooperation,” said Julie Brinker, Director of Community Affairs for the Church of Scientology Nashville. “When community organizations, law enforcement, faith leaders, volunteers, and young people come together, we create a stronger network that can help prevent addiction before it starts.”

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World provides free educational materials, videos, and curriculum designed to empower youth and adults with factual information about the effects of drugs. Drug-Free Tennessee continues to partner with schools, civic organizations, businesses, and community groups to deliver these resources throughout the state.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed annually on June 26, encourages communities worldwide to strengthen action and cooperation toward achieving a world free of drug abuse.

Organizations interested in partnering with Drug-Free Tennessee or scheduling a free drug education presentation are encouraged to contact the organization to learn more about its educational programs.
